Pages of Virtue
2026 Writing Guidelines, Participation Rules and Publication Consent
Effective Date: July 16, 2026
These Writing Guidelines, Participation Rules and Publication Consent terms apply to the 2026 edition of Pages of Virtue, organized by 365 Mosaic Foundation through its 365 for Kids program.
Please read this document before submitting a child’s writing.
By completing the official submission form and agreeing to the required consent statements, the submitting adult confirms that they:
- are at least 18 years old;
- have read and understood these Rules;
- have authority to submit the child’s writing;
- have obtained all permissions required for participation and publication;
- agree to the review, editing and publication terms described below.
1. About Pages of Virtue
Pages of Virtue is an annual children’s writing initiative that invites young people to reflect on the goodness they notice, remember, experience and choose.
Children may write about kindness, courage, honesty, patience, gratitude, forgiveness, responsibility, friendship, compassion, hope, generosity, perseverance, respect or another virtue that has meaning for them.
The writing may be inspired by:
- a personal experience;
- something the child witnessed;
- a memory;
- a feeling or question;
- a meaningful choice;
- an imagined event or fictional scene inspired by real values.
A child is never required to reveal a private, painful or traumatic experience. The submission may be entirely fictional or imaginative.
2. Organizer
Pages of Virtue is organized by:
365 Mosaic Foundation — 365 for Kids
636 Remington Rd, Suite C
Schaumburg, IL 60173
United States
Email: info@365forkids.com
Phone: (224) 201-3767
In these Rules, “365 for Kids,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to 365 Mosaic Foundation in connection with the administration of this initiative.
3. Who May Participate
The initiative is open to children and teens ages 6–17 residing in the United States.
Suggested age groups are:
- Ages 6–9
- Ages 10–13
- Ages 14–17
The participant must be within the eligible age range on the date the complete submission is received.
Participation is free.
4. Important Dates and Participation Capacity
Submissions are now open.
The planned 2026 schedule is:
- Submission Deadline: November 1, 2026, or earlier if the 500-submission capacity is reached
- Accepted Writings and Participants Announced: December 10, 2026
- Official Catalog Link Published: December 10, 2026
The first 500 complete submissions that meet all eligibility, originality, content, consent, copyright, privacy, safety, and technical requirements will be accepted, in the order in which they are received.
Starting or partially completing a submission does not reserve a place. A submission is considered complete only after all required information, writing, permissions, and confirmations have been received and the submission meets the published requirements.
Submissions may close before November 1, 2026 if capacity is reached.
The official link to the annual Pages of Virtue 2026 Catalog will be posted on the project webpage on December 10, 2026.
365 for Kids may reasonably adjust these dates because of technical, publishing, administrative, legal, or other circumstances. Important changes will be announced on the official project webpage.
5. This Is Not a Competition
Pages of Virtue is a non-competitive children’s writing and publication initiative, not a contest.
There are:
- no rankings;
- no first-, second-, or third-place awards;
- no comparison of children’s writing ability;
- no competitive prizes.
Submissions will be reviewed only to confirm eligibility, originality, age-appropriateness, compliance with the word limit, and compliance with all content, consent, copyright, privacy, safety, and technical requirements.
The first 500 complete submissions that meet all published requirements will be accepted, in the order in which they are received.
Every accepted writing will be published in the annual Pages of Virtue 2026 Catalog.
6. What May Be Submitted
Each child may submit one original written piece in one of the following forms:
- a short reflection;
- a personal story;
- a poem;
- a letter;
- a short essay;
- a memory;
- a thoughtful paragraph;
- a creative or fictional text inspired by a virtue.
The recommended maximum length is:
300 words
Younger children may submit shorter pieces.
A title is encouraged but is not required.
7. Originality
The writing must:
- be created by the participating child;
- express the child’s own ideas, observations, feelings or imagination;
- be original and previously unpublished;
- be appropriate for a children’s and family publication;
- relate meaningfully to a virtue, value, choice or act of goodness;
- not knowingly violate another person’s copyright, privacy or other rights.
The child may be inspired by books, conversations and real-life experiences, but must not copy another person’s writing.
Quotes should be avoided unless they are brief, properly identified and legally permitted.
8. Adult Assistance
Children ages 6–8 may dictate their ideas to a parent, legal guardian, teacher or other authorized adult.
Adults may provide reasonable assistance with:
- brainstorming;
- handwriting;
- typing;
- spelling;
- punctuation;
- basic grammar;
- explaining unfamiliar words;
- organizing the child’s own ideas.
The final writing must preserve the child’s own thoughts, meaning and age-appropriate voice.
An adult must not:
- write the piece for the child;
- replace the child’s language with an adult writing style;
- invent the child’s reflection;
- substantially rewrite the submission.
9. Artificial Intelligence
The submitted text must not be written primarily by generative artificial intelligence.
AI tools must not be used to create the central story, reflection, poem, ideas or wording and present them as the child’s original work.
Ordinary spelling or grammar-checking tools may be used only for basic corrections, provided that the child’s meaning and voice remain unchanged.
365 for Kids may decline a submission that appears to have been substantially written by an adult, copied from another source or generated by artificial intelligence.
10. Content That Should Not Be Submitted
The writing must not contain:
- sexually explicit or exploitative content;
- hateful or discriminatory material;
- threats or instructions for harmful or illegal activity;
- excessive graphic violence;
- intentional humiliation or bullying;
- commercial advertising;
- plagiarism;
- unnecessary private or sensitive information;
- content unsuitable for a children’s educational publication.
The child should not include:
- a full legal name;
- home address;
- personal telephone number;
- personal email address;
- school name;
- private social-media username;
- exact location;
- medical or mental-health information;
- foster-care or residential-care status;
- court, immigration or family legal information;
- identifying information about another child or family without permission.
If the writing is based on real people, use only the details reasonably necessary to tell the story and avoid identifying private individuals.
11. Who May Submit the Writing
The submission must be completed by an adult who is at least 18 years old.
The submitting adult may be:
- the child’s parent;
- the child’s legal guardian; or
- a teacher, educator or authorized organizational representative who has obtained all permissions required from the parent, legal guardian, school, agency or organization.
Possession of a child’s writing alone does not authorize an adult or organization to submit it for publication.
365 for Kids may request additional confirmation of authority when reasonably necessary.
12. Information Collected with the Submission
The official submission form may request:
- child’s first name and last-name initial;
- approved Public Display Name;
- child’s age or age group;
- city and state;
- title of the writing;
- selected virtue or meaningful idea;
- type of writing;
- the complete written text;
- an optional Word document for formatting;
- parent, guardian or authorized-adult name;
- adult email address;
- adult relationship to the child;
- required confirmations and publication permission.
A child should not complete the form independently or provide a personal email address.
13. Public Identification
The submitting adult will choose how the child may be identified publicly.
The approved Public Display Name may be:
- first name and last-name initial;
- first name only;
- initials;
- an appropriate creative name.
The public presentation may also include:
- exact age or age group;
- city and state, when authorized;
- title of the writing;
- selected virtue or meaningful idea.
The adult’s name, email address, signature and private administrative information will not be published as part of the child’s writing.
The submitting adult may request more limited identification, including no city or use of an age group instead of an exact age.
14. Review and Acceptance
Submissions will be reviewed for:
- age and United States residency eligibility;
- originality;
- meaningful connection to a virtue, value, choice, or act of goodness;
- age-appropriate written expression;
- suitability for children and families;
- compliance with the recommended maximum length;
- privacy and safety;
- completeness of the submission and consent;
- copyright compliance;
- technical suitability for publication.
The first 500 complete submissions that meet all published requirements will be accepted, in the order in which they are received.
365 for Kids may decline a submission that:
- does not meet the published requirements;
- is incomplete;
- was completed after the 500-submission capacity was reached;
- lacks appropriate permission;
- contains prohibited, identifying, or unnecessary private information;
- appears copied, adult-written, or AI-generated;
- presents a copyright, privacy, safety, consent, or legal concern;
- cannot reasonably be prepared for publication;
- contains inaccurate or misleading information.
An incomplete or noncompliant submission does not reserve a place.
When practical, 365 for Kids may request missing information or a correction. Allowing a correction does not guarantee that capacity will remain available while the correction is pending.
Acceptance decisions based on the published requirements and available capacity are final, except when an administrative error is confirmed..
15. Editorial Preparation
For accepted writings, 365 for Kids may make limited editorial and technical adjustments, including:
- correcting spelling;
- correcting punctuation;
- standardizing capitalization;
- correcting obvious typing errors;
- adjusting paragraph breaks;
- formatting the writing for the Catalog;
- shortening a title when reasonably necessary;
- making minor grammatical corrections that do not change the child’s meaning or voice.
We will not intentionally replace the child’s central ideas or rewrite the piece in an adult voice.
A submission requiring substantial rewriting may be declined rather than rewritten.
16. Publication in the Annual Printed Catalog
Every accepted writing will be included in the annual Pages of Virtue 2026 printed Catalog, subject to the withdrawal and removal provisions in these Rules.
The Catalog may be:
- prepared and published by 365 Mosaic Foundation — 365 for Kids;
- printed and distributed;
- offered for sale through Amazon or another retailer;
- purchased voluntarily by participating families, schools, libraries, organizations or members of the public;
- promoted through the 365 for Kids website, newsletters, social-media accounts and community communications;
- retained as part of the Pages of Virtue archive.
No participant is required to purchase the Catalog.
Participation, acceptance, and publication are not conditioned on making a purchase.
17. Online Announcement and Promotional Use
365 for Kids may announce accepted writings and participants on December 10, 2026.
The announcement or promotion of the project may include:
- approved Public Display Name;
- age or age group;
- city and state, when authorized;
- writing title;
- selected virtue;
- a short excerpt from the accepted writing;
- images of pages or the Catalog cover;
- information about the annual collection.
The full writing does not have to be published on the website unless that use is described in the submission process and authorized by the submitting adult.
18. Ownership and Copyright
The participating child or the child’s lawful rights holder retains copyright ownership of the child’s original writing.
A minor may hold copyright in an original work. Publication through Pages of Virtue does not transfer ownership of the child’s copyright to 365 for Kids.
19. Permission Granted to 365 for Kids
By submitting the writing and providing the required publication permission, the authorized adult grants 365 Mosaic Foundation — 365 for Kids a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:
- receive, store and review the submission;
- make the limited editorial and formatting changes described above;
- reproduce and publish the accepted writing;
- include it in the 2026 Pages of Virtue annual Catalog;
- print, distribute, market and sell copies of the Catalog through Amazon and other retail or distribution channels;
- identify the child using the approved public information;
- use a reasonable excerpt to announce or promote the annual publication;
- include the work in project-related archival and administrative records.
This permission does not prevent the child or lawful rights holder from using or publishing the writing elsewhere.
It does not transfer ownership of the child’s copyright to 365 for Kids.
KDP may require the publisher to confirm that it holds the necessary publishing rights for content included in a Catalog; the permission above provides the limited publication authorization needed for this project.
20. Catalog Sales and Compensation
Participation is unpaid.
The child, parent, guardian or submitting organization will not receive:
- royalties;
- a share of Catalog sales;
- licensing fees;
- wages;
- other financial compensation.
An optional physical print-on-demand keepsake edition may be offered through a third-party retailer. Any purchase is entirely optional and is not required for participation, selection, publication, recognition, or awards. Participating libraries, schools, and organizations are not required to promote or facilitate sales.
The sale of the annual Catalog does not transfer ownership of the child’s original writing or copyright to 365 for Kids.
21. Certificates
Every participant whose writing is accepted will receive a digital Certificate of Participation.
Certificates may be sent to the adult email address entered in the submission form.
The submitting adult is responsible for checking the spelling and capitalization of the name provided for the Certificate of Participation.
Certificates have no cash value.
22. Withdrawal Before Publication
A parent, legal guardian or authorized representative may request withdrawal before the Catalog is finalized for publication.
Send the request promptly to:
Use the subject line:
Pages of Virtue — Withdrawal Request
Include:
- approved Public Display Name;
- writing title;
- submitting adult’s name;
- email address used for the submission.
We will make reasonable efforts to honor a timely withdrawal request.
A request received after the Catalog has been finalized, uploaded, printed, distributed or released may not prevent publication.
23. Requests After Publication
Once the printed Catalog has been published:
- printed or purchased copies cannot be recalled;
- distributed copies cannot be retrieved;
- retailer previews, archived listings and search-engine records may remain;
- previously published promotional excerpts or images may not disappear immediately.
After verifying the requester’s identity and authority, 365 for Kids may make reasonable efforts to remove the child’s information or excerpts from online pages controlled directly by 365 for Kids.
Limited records may be retained to document permission, publication history, accounting or legal compliance.
24. Privacy
Personal information collected through the submission process will be handled according to the 365 for Kids Privacy Policy.
Participation is also subject to the 365 for Kids Terms and Conditions.
For children under 13, parents must be clearly informed about the collection, use and public disclosure of personal information and must provide the required parental authorization.
Only the information approved for public display will be included in the public announcement or annual Catalog.
25. No Participation Fee or Reimbursement
Participation is free.
365 for Kids does not reimburse expenses such as:
- writing or art materials;
- printing;
- internet access;
- postage;
- books;
- educator or organizational staff time;
- other preparation or submission expenses.
26. Changes, Postponement or Cancellation
365 for Kids may reasonably modify, postpone, suspend or cancel part of the initiative because of:
- insufficient eligible submissions;
- technical or publishing problems;
- privacy, copyright or security concerns;
- legal requirements;
- illness, emergency or circumstances beyond reasonable control;
- another substantial administrative need.
Important changes will be announced through the official project webpage when reasonably possible.
Closing submissions before the published deadline because the 500-submission capacity has been reached does not constitute a cancellation or postponement of the initiative.
